Visual interpretations of some monuments, statues and mosaics from my hometown, Onesti. Due to the lack of interest, they were left into oblivion. Multiple exposures, collages,zoom-out.

Two models and 1 kg of flour. Movement, strobes, trance. A desintegration into small particles, blown away by the wind.
ballerina, 2013

Grace, inspiration, dynamism, attitude, tehnique, sacrifice, joy ... Qalities without which a dancer is an orphan. Not only the posture of the hand, leg or head. It is a story told by the entire body with perfect harmonization between each of its parts. A moment of high concentration of energy felt by the viewer to the top of the hair. A blend between dance and music that's monopolizing you, transpose you, excites you, moves you. This is ballet.

"Ștefan Neagu dressed himself in a simple white shirt, chose nineteen names to define himself, took a different face, and in silence and noise, for five years, he created the appropriate frames for a thorough self-discovery. The result: a nude photo album. Anything but usual." Cristina Ciocea
arhaic, 2015

"Archaic" is a conceptual photography project in which the main focus is on traditional symbolism, being inspired by an illustrated album made in 1909 by Dimitrie Comsa. In this album there are woodcarvings made on different objects found in Transylvania and Banat regions: sticks, spoons, spinning forks.
The photographs were taken by projecting images of these objects on a nude depersonalised model, itself becoming a symbol of Primordial Mother. The impressive aspect is that many of symbols such as the sun, the cross, the flower, the tree of life, the octagon or the snake are common elements with other archaic cultures, which makes the whole concept not necessarily a traditional Romanian one, but universally availeble.

"In the light there is darkness,
but don't take it as darkness;
In the dark there is light,
but don't see it as light.
Light and dark oppose one another
like the front and back foot in walking.
Each of the myriad things has its merit,
expressed according to function and place.
Phenomena exist; box and lid fit;
principle responds; arrow points meet.
Hearing the words, understand the meaning;
don't set up standards of your own.
If you don't understand the Way right before you,
how will you know the path as you walk?"
From Shih-t'ou's "Harmony of Difference and Sameness"

The story is always the same. Bright lights attract her as a hypnotic scent. She can not resist to approach and begin her dance, a hymeneal dance. The Light warms the dark corner, that darkness that mysterious draws her although it makes her frightened. In that mirage, every touch of the sticky web covers her little by little. The tuch of the web is warm, she likes it. The more the dance, the web surround and limits her movements. Finally, she's completely wrapped, standing still, numb... Time seems to have stopped.
The transformation begins.
The shroud turned into dust and felt off, her body was now clean.
The pray became predator.
art of conversation, 2016

We can tell so much with words. But with the help of facial expressions, the comunication gains much more power, that sometimes words are useless. Some are beautiful, some are arrousing, some are grotesque. They are comunicating thoughts and feelings by themselves, with no need of words, without the need of speaking.

We are all ephemeris in this Universe . But every particle in this Universe has its uniqueness. The cycle is the same, we are born, we grow, shine increasingly stronger until we become a burst of light and then the cycle repeats in another form.
We are all ephemeris in this Universe, but our short existence must count.

geometry of emotions, 2017

Can geometry be an abstraction of emotions through contour, shape, color? Circle, square, triangle, and other complex shapes, can they represent different moods, feelings? At the same time, can emotions be sublimated in geometry ? We encounter them everywhere, we are surrounded by objects with different shapes, whose appearance can affect us emotionally. If it's joy, play, love, life, could those be expressed as a red circle? How can we better represent melancholy, if not by a blue square?

lost souls, 2017

Richard Avedon once said that he couldn't photograph trees, that he needs to talk to the model. "What should I tell a tree, "Smile!" ?
Michael Kenna on the other hand "talked" to every tree that spoke to him.
Constantin Brâncuși materialized the essence of things.
In this project, I captured "the lost souls" of old trees, misfitted near other trees. As I walked, when something drew my attention and made me stop and stare, became a subject.
Even though my main work is made with digital equipment, for this project I used a 1960' Rolleiflex and 120 black and white film, as I believed that this medium resonated better with the subject. Shooting film, developing your own rolls, makes the whole process more personal, more intimate.

We rely on them when we interact with the world. More or less consciously, they are the keys to adapt. They collect specific information that becomes perceptions. But they are limited. By us. We limit them by habit, by cataloging as a default good. But we can transform them, by using consciously, developing them. An exercise in perception.

the poet, 2017

The act of creation comes from an inner seed of the poet, from the searches and questions that condemn him to unrest.
Once he finds the way, he sacrifices himself in the name of his poetry.
The poet disappears, dissolve himself.
Only poetry remains

disintegrations, 2018

Disintegration should be regarded as transformation, not necessarily as decay. Something modifies its morphology and properties, sometimes gaining new meanings, thus becoming something else.
I had an old cherry tree in the backyard that dried so I had to take it down and cut it into logs that I forgot for years under a jasmine bush. They became nest for spiders, food and protection for insects, fungi support or shelter for snails.
Rediscovering them, I found their changes intriguingly photogenic and I had to catch on film as less modified as I could their raw presence. They are the confirmation of the theory that nothing is lost , everything is transformed.

transfer, 2018

We are conditioned by interactions between us, whether we like it or not, whether we want it or not. And every word, every gesture, every touch that we do has an effect on the one next to us. We transfer a part of us, transforming the other one. Therefore I think we should acknowledge the importance of how we interact with each other, to understand the effects these transfers have.

visit, 2020

I was thinking about paying me a visit for some time. I've called myself first, as the etiquette requires, lest I get inopportune, but every time I called I was busy. I guess I had a problem with my phone. I brought a bunch of lavender. Dry, picked three years ago. It had everything, like a song - and linalil, and linalol, and lavender. I knew I was so abated it should do me good. I saw I wasn't wearing the watch. The automatic clock I liked so much. You know what happens if you don't wear it...Time stands still..
